BEACON – The re-paving of Main Street has been delayed by the weather and city officials have provided an updated timeline for the project.  The paving is slated to continue on Thursday, May 5th.

Officials said the workers will complete the last section from Elm Street by the Dutchess County DMV Building west to Route 9D on Thursday.  As a result, that portion of Main Street will be closed to traffic for most of the day.

Once paving is completed, workers will begin marking out crosswalks, parking spaces, and travel lanes.  That work is expected to begin late on Thursday and continue through Friday afternoon. As a result of that work, Main Street will remain closed to parking.  Main Street is expected to fully reopen to parking and traffic beginning on Friday afternoon through most of Monday.
Next week, officials say, beginning on Monday and continuing through Tuesday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, the re-striping will occur. When the re-striping is completed, all restrictions for parking will be lifted.
