WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives, Tuesday, passed the Highlands Conservation Reauthorization Act, sponsored by Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18).

The measure reauthorized the act through 2029 to protect the Highlands of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut, Maloney said.

“The bill funds vital projects to safeguard our water supplies, conserve our forests, protect wildlife, expand public outdoor recreation and save agricultural resources,” he said in support of the bill while speaking on the House floor.

Since the 2007 enactment of the bill, it has delivered over $14 million in federal funding to New York alone and facilitated the permanent protection of some 13,000 acres of land.
