EAST FISHKILL – Sammy Ravelo of the Bronx is a 51-year-old Navy veteran and a retired member of the NYPD.

He is walking from New York City to Albany to carry a message about what he believes are the state’s criminal justice system failures.

Ravelo will be joined next Tuesday by several organizations including Blue Lives Matter New York City, the Victims’ Rights Reform Council, Chinese American Citizens Alliance and others.

“We are going to have a rally in Albany in order to speak to the many victims of violence that have happened due to a lot of the poor policies that the New York State government has implemented such as less is more, raise the age, and more importantly bail reform, which we believe the fixes are not what is going to curb crime,” he told Mid-Hudson News while walking through East Fishkill on Thursday.

The rally will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at the State Capitol building.
