GOSHEN – A company that plans to store massive amounts of electricity in batteries, is asking the Orange County Industrial Development Agency for financial incentives to develop their project in the Town of Warwick.

IDA Executive Director Bill Fioravanti told the Education and Economic Development Committee of the county legislature on Monday that Convergent Energy Systems is seeking assistance.

“It’s a battery storage project to implement battery storage for renewable energy and to allow, in this case, Orange and Rockland Utilities to be able to store that and provide cost-effective renewable energy to the local area,” he said.

Three adjacent sites are proposed to store the electric power.
