Attorney general to hold Kingston gun buyback

KINGSTON – Attorney General Letitia James will conduct a gun buyback on Saturday, April 30 at the Andy Murphy Midtown Neighborhood Center in Kingston.

 

The event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is in collaboration with the Kingston Police Department and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

 

Anyone who brings in an assault rifle will receive a $300 pre-paid gift card.

 

Persons bringing in a handgun will receive a $150 gift card and an additional $150 gift card for a good condition, working semi-automatic handgun, 9mm or larger caliber.

 

A rifle or shotgun will net the person bringing it in a $75 gift card. An additional $100 Walmart gift card will be given for a good condition working assault rifle.

 

A non-working, replica, or antique gun will be redeemed for $25.

 

To receive a free gun safe, persons must display a valid pistol permit with one issued per household.
