Sullivan Fraud Task Force arrests 10

MONTICELLO – Ten people have been arrested by the Sullivan County Fraud Task Force in the first quarter of the year.

Justus McMoore, 36, of Monticello, was arrested in the parking lot of the Department of Family Services and charged with tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and criminal possession of drugs.

He had in his possession 24 glassine envelopes that tested positive for fentanyl and heroin.

During his arrest, McMoore resisted and attempted to discard a Snapple bottle containing heroin and fentanyl.

He was released on an appearance ticket.

Vladimir Gerve, 37, of the Bronx, was charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud, and offering a false instrument for filing. It alleged that Gerve failed to disclose to the Sullivan County Department of Family Services that he was employed and living in New York City while he collected $1,379 in public assistance benefits.

He was released on an appearance ticket.

Linn Parker, 42, and Debbie Maldonado, 43, both of Roscoe, were charged with grant larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing. It is alleged the pair stole $11,260 in SNAP benefits for failing to report that Parker was living in the residence and employed. They were also charged with filing periodic reports and SNAP recertifications knowing they contained false information.  They were both released on appearance tickets.

Sheila Fonseca, 36, of Monticello, was charged with welfare fraud and offering a false information for filing. She was released on an appearance ticket.

Christopher Malone, 41, of Youngsville was charged with misuse of food stamps. It is alleged he stole $796 in SNAP benefits by failing to report he was employed. He was issued an appearance ticket.

Joy Nolan, 66, of North Branch, was charged with offering a false instrument for filing and welfare fraud for collecting $1,383 in SNAP benefits by failing to report that her husband was receiving unemployment benefits. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Rachel Jones, 33, of Narrowsburg, was charged with grand larceny for receiving $1,308 in SNAP benefits by failing to disclose she was collecting unemployment benefits. She was issued an appearance ticket.

Letrisha Jefferson, 29, of Monticello was charged with offering a false instrument for filing and welfare fraud for collecting $1,419 in SNAP benefits  and failing to report she was receiving unemployment benefits and child support. She was released on an appearance ticket.

Ashanta Steele, 43, of Monticello was arrested for grand larceny for allegedly stealing $20,260 by fraudulently obtaining a Paycheck Protection Program loan. She was released on an appearance ticket.

Her arrest following a joint investigation by the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force, State Department of Financial Services Criminal Investigations. FBI and Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
