ALBANY – Unemployment in the Hudson Valley continued its steep decline in February with the regional rate of joblessness at 3.8 percent. The state labor department said that compares with a 3.6 percent rate in January and 6.3 percent in February 2021.
Many businesses continue to have difficulty recruiting and are offering sign-on bonuses.
Columbia and Rockland County each had the lowest rate in the region at 3.4 percent.
Putnam County follows with 3.5 percent joblessness. Dutchess had a 3.7 percent of joblessness, compared to Westchester at 3.8 percent, and Ulster at 3.9 percent.
Sullivan, Greene and Delaware counties all had 4.3 percent rates of unemployment.
