TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Police have arrested a man for several burglaries that occurred on South Road in Poughkeepsie recently.  The man was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit during the most recent burglary.

Dutchess County resident David Mahoney, 51, has been charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of criminal mischief, grand larceny, and petit larceny.

Town of Poughkeepsie Police had responded to a report of a burglary in progress just before 1 a.m. at Enterprise Rent-a-Car at 1839 South Road on March 17.  When officers arrived, they observed that the glass front door had been smashed.  The officers then noticed a subject fleeing out the rear of the business and a foot pursuit ensued.  The subject, later identified as Mahoney, was caught with the stolen items in his possession.

After further investigation, police determined that in the hours before, Mahoney had burglarized the Sherwin-Williams store on South Road, and the Foreign Car Specialists repair shop located between the South Hills Mall and the Poughkeepsie Galleria.

Mahoney was arraigned on the charges and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail pending a future court appearance.
