Lunchtime foot pursuit results in gun arrest

POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie police arrested a 19-year-old city resident on felony gun charges after a lunchtime foot pursuit on Cannon Street.  The teenage city resident is being held for arraignment at police headquarters.
On Wednesday, March 16, city cops patrolling the area of Cannon Street noticed a man in possession of a handgun.  When officers attempted to make contact with the man, now identified as Denzil Morris, attempted to flee on foot.  Police officers ran after the man and apprehended him a short time later.
Morris is facing a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon.  Additional charges are pending.  He was processed at headquarters and held pending arraignment in city court.
