Pre-dawn search warrant nabs suspected drug dealer

Weapon seized from Ashton Latouche

POUGHKEEPSIE – A pre-dawn search warrant by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit (NRU) resulted in a man being charged with felony weapons and drug charges.

Twenty-eight-year-old Ashton Latouche was arrested after the NRU executed a search warrant at 4:44 a.m. on Friday at his 120 Hudson Avenue Apartment.  The NRU was assisted by members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.  The warrant was a result of an investigation into ongoing drug sales in the area.

Latouche, according to police was the target of the investigation.  The search warrant resulted in the  seizure of quantities of cocaine and Fentanyl, a .22 caliber revolver and cash.
Latouche was charged with the felonies of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Latouche has a prior felony conviction for Criminal Possession of a Weapon.  He was transported to police headquarters where he was booked and held for arraignment.
The police NRU is asking for anyone who suspects drug dealing or observes ongoing suspicious activity in the neighborhood, to call the unit at (845)451-4060. All calls will be kept confidential.
