FISHKILL – A man was transported to Westchester Medical Center by ambulance Friday morning after allegedly being attacked by an axe-wielding man.  New York State Police are investigating the incident that occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. at the 9D E-Z Storage Facility, 1404 Route 9D in Fishkill.

State Police and Town of Fishkill police responded to the call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck inside of the storage facility.  The first responding officers indicated that the man may have been struck by a vehicle before being assaulted with an axe.

A suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

A medivac helicopter was requested to land at Dutchess Stadium to transport the victim who sustained serious injuries.  Due to high winds, the helicopter was unavailable so the victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The state police are continuing the investigation
