GOSHEN – When companies first explore siting in new locations, their identities are withheld. Two such businesses have their eyes on Orange County.

One business, dubbed “Project Emporium,” is looking at a 200-acre parcel to build one million square feet of space, Orange County Partnership President Maureen Halahan told the county legislature’s economic development committee on Monday.

“They claim to have 100 high-paying jobs and it is going to be about $800 million in capital investment,” she said, noting that lead came from the State of New York. “Project Scroll, also another new lead; the company is already located in New York State, but wants to expand in Orange County. It’s a solar cell company. It uses unique manufacturing process to produce low-cost, high-efficiency solar modules.”

Halahan expects there will be more green energy projects coming down the pike. “There are a lot of opportunities for us in that space,” she said.
