UNION VALE – A 28-year-old Union Vale man died from injuries he sustained in a one-car crash on Verbank Club Road in the Town of Union Valle at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday.

Deputies said a 2021 Audi Q5 driven by Avinash Harrindranauth was traveling south on Verbank Club Road when he failed to negotiate a hillcrest and slight curve in the road, after which the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree.

He was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office detective bureau and crash investigation unit; however, unsafe sped is thought to be a primary factor, authorities said.

Assisting at the scene were State Police, LaGrange Fire Department and EMStar Ambulance.
