Brooklyn man killed Wawarsing UTV crash

WAWARSING – The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the man killed when the utility terrain vehicle he was operating on a frozen lake flipped over late on Sunday afternoon. (Mid-Hudson News first reported the incident.)

Deputies and members of the Ellenville Rescue Squad and Fire Department made their way onto the frozen lake to rescue the man, identified as 38-year-old, of Brooklyn. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ulster County Health Commissioner Dr. Carol Smith said he was not wearing a helmet when police said the vehicle overturned and landed on him.

Another man with him when the vehicle overturned suffered minor injuries.
