GOSHEN – It is one year since mobs attacked the U.S. Capitol as Congress was confirming Joe Biden as the country’s new president.

Most Americans called the assault an insurrection, but many refuse to define it as such.

Orange County Democratic Chairman Brett Broge is one who is concerned about those who one year after the attack, will still not call it a rebellion on the U.S. Government.

“They are the ones who stoked the fire of these false allegations of voter fraud. They encouraged folks like the people who were on that bus out of the Monroe park-and-ride, to attend this rally and then they never took responsibility for the political violence that occurred that day,” Broge said.

Broge is taking aim at Republican State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt (R, New Windsor) who said on the morning of January 6, 2021 that he addressed a busload of senior citizens who were on their way to Washington to rally.

“A year ago, Orange County Democratic Chair Brett Broge and Democrat Congressional  Campaign Committee Chair Sean Patrick Maloney attacked me for speaking to members of Orange County Right to Life, which is a faith-based organization, about legislation pending in the State Legislature,” Schmitt said. “Even worse, they personally attacked the members of that peaceful organization, including dozens of local senior citizens, and shamefullly labeled them domestic terrorists.”

Schmitt said, “Now, Broge is at it again. Broge’s concern should be apologizing to those who he denigrated with his baseless accusations for no other reason than to advance his partisant political agenda.”
