Police seeking witnesses to Wednesday night accident

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A serious two-car accident Wednesday night on Vassar Road resulted in a motorist being entrapped in his car with life-threatening injuries.  The Town of Poughkeepsie police are seeking witnesses to the wreck.

 

Town police along with the Arlington and LaGrange Fire Departments responded to the area of Vassar Road and Mainetti Drive at approximately 9:29 p.m. Wednesday for the crash involving a 2013 Acura and a 2018 Hyundai SUV.  Mid-Hudson News reported on the incident shortly after it happened.  The story can be found HERE.

 

According to Lieutenant Shannon Rodriguez of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police, the 23-year-old driver of the Acura and resident of New York City was entrapped and sustained life-threatening injuries.  He was extricated by firefighters and transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital.

 

The Hyundai driver, a 38-year-old from Poughkeepsie and his passengers sustained minor injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

 

A utility pole was severed during the accident and required crews from Central Hudson and Verizon to make necessary repairs.
