BEACON – The Fishkill Correctional Facility was locked down on Friday after an inmate attempted to escape the medium-security prison.
Sources told Mid-Hudson News that an inmate managed to put civilian clothes on over his green prison uniform and identified himself as part of the construction crew that has been working at the prison that houses nearly 1,800 prisoners.
The inmate made it to Gate 2 before an alert Corrections Officer noticed the state-issued green clothing underneath his sweatpants. The inmate was captured and the prison was placed on lockdown.
