ALBANY – The number of new COVID-19 cases in the region has increased by 800 in one day as the holiday surge is expected to continue.
The count of new positive cases in the Hudson Valley/Catskills went from 3,050 on Tuesday to 3,819 the following day, according to the state health department.
There were also eight new deaths in the region reported from the virus – five in Westchester County and one each in Orange, Rockland and Ulster counties.
