SHAWANGUNK – State Police have charged a Town of Shawangunk man with aggravated animal cruelty for allegedly throwing a seven-year-old Maltese against a wall.
It is alleged that while the owner of the small dog was holding it while outside his residence, the suspect, Anthony Gonzalez, 30, became upset when the dog was barking and bit his hand.
Gonzalez is alleged to have grabbed the dog and threw it against a wall causing it to bleed from the mouth. The animal was taken to the Sullivan County Emergency Animal Hospital by the owner where it was treated for minor bruising.
Gonzalez was charged and issued an appearance ticket to town court. He was also issued an order of protection to refrain from contacting the victim.
