Skoufis holds canned goods drive for Thanksgiving

NEWBURGH – State Senator James Skoufis (D, Cornwall) will collect canned goods at his Newburgh office for a Thanksgiving giveaway in collaboration with Life Restoration Church.

Now through November 18, folks can drop off unneeded canned items at Skoufis’ 47 Grand Street location or satellite office (55 West Railroad Avenue, Building 24, Ste. A2, Garnerville during normal business hours.

The collection will be distributed at a Thanksgiving giveaway on Saturday, November 20, held at Life Restoration Church (136 First Street, Newburgh, NY 12550) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Skoufis will help distribute food to those who could use an extra hand this holiday season.

The senator will also participate in the YIT (Yerik Israel Toney) Foundation’s November 13 Toy Drive at Newburgh Armory Unity Center (321 S. William Street, Newburgh, NY 12550).

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. community members can trade in a toy for their choice of a Thanksgiving turkey, a gift card, or a winter coat, while enjoying a meal for $6.50 per plate. All proceeds benefit YIT’s work, supporting premature babies and their families.

On November 22, Skoufis and his team will join Cornwall’s Food Bank of the Hudson Valley to support the bank’s distribution efforts heading into the Thanksgiving weekend.
