HYDE PARK – A Monday afternoon head-on collision on Crum Elbow Road in Hyde Park sent the drivers of two vehicles to the hospital with injuries.  The crash occurred around 3 p.m. east of Cream Street.

Hyde Park Police and the Roosevelt Fire Department responded to the scene where it was reported that the elderly man driving a sedan was trapped in his vehicle.  The fire department was able to get the sole occupants out of each vehicle so they could be treated by Mobile Life Support Services ambulance personnel before being transported to a local hospital.

The sedan was traveling westbound on Crum Elbow Road and the truck was traveling eastbound.  After the crash, the sedan was still facing east, against the guide rail in the westbound lane.  The truck was still primarily in the original westbound lane of travel and was up against the front of the car.

Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson said that the cause of the accident is under investigation.
