BETHEL – A Quebec man has come forward asking Sullivan County to let him attempt to develop a portion of the county airport in Bethel that will likely not be developed by the county.

The legislature has given the man, whose name was not made public, three years to put his plan into action, said Legislature Chairman Rob Doherty.

“He is taking a three-year lease – $5,000 a year – and if he is able to develop it, he enters into a $1 million-a-year lease at two percent added a year,” Dougherty said.

The chairman said the county has had no interest in developing that portion of airport property in the foreseeable future.
