EAST FISHKILL – State Police are continuing to investigate an incident on Route 52 in East Fishkill on Thursday afternoon in which a driver was pulled over on the Taconic State Parkway after being suspected of speeding.
As a trooper was questioning the driver, whose name was not made public, he took off, exiting the Taconic and heading eastbound on Route 52. As he was being pursued, he drove off the road and struck a tree on Route 52 and Overhill Road.
The driver attempted to run, but was taken into custody, then lost consciousness.
He was transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment.
