POUGHKEEPSIE – City police were dispatched to a report of a man who had been stabbed on the sidewalk in front of 382 Main Street on Sunday, August 15, at approximately 11:33 a.m.  When officers arrived, they were advised that the victim had been transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital (MHRH) in a private vehicle.

Officers investigating the crime scene found fresh blood on the sidewalk and a pair of common household scissors with a broken handle inches away from one of the sidewalk bloodstains.

Additional officers responded to MHRH and determined that the victim’s car had been parked near the ambulance bay of the Emergency Department and the driver had left before police arrived.  The car was impounded by police.

At 12:26 p.m., officers at the Main Street crime scene were advised by City 911 that a victim had just walked into Vassar Brothers Medical Center with a reported stab wound.  It is unclear if the two victims were injured during the same incident.

The condition of both victims has not been released and no additional information has been provided.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding this crime to call the TIP LINE at 845-451-7577.
