WASHINGTON DC –  Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) Friday announced the delivery of the second round of Child Tax Credit payments.  The payments, according to Maloney, are part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP).

“This historic tax cut is more than just a monthly check. It’s helping parents put gas in the car, food on the table, and make ends meet,” said Maloney. “My top priority is supporting working families as we continue our fight against COVID-19, and we’re getting it done through the Child Tax Credit – the most significant anti-poverty, family support initiative in American history.”

Payments are automatic for families that filed their 2020 returns by May 17, 2021. If you did not file your 2019 or 2020 taxes but believe you would qualify for this credit, you can submit your information through the IRS Child Tax Credit Non-filer Sign-up Tool today. If parents wish to opt-out of the third payment to receive the full credit after they file their 2021 income tax return, they must do so by August 30 on the IRS Child Tax Credit Update Portal.

Maloney encourages qualifying parents who have not received their payment to complete this form, so a member of his staff can investigate the claim.
