POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro has announced that the Dutchess County Parks Division will host a free, family-friendly music and movie event on Friday, August 20th at Wilcox Park, located on Route 199 in Milan. Music will be provided by Vito Petroccitto and the Little Rock Quartet and will begin at 6:00 p.m. The movie screening of “Yogi Bear” will immediately follow.

Molinaro touted the county park system, saying, “Dutchess County Parks continues to offer family-friendly events that give our residents an opportunity to come together for a safe, and enjoyable evening. Throughout the year, our dedicated Parks division provides quality recreation and outdoor programming for all ages and abilities. We encourage residents to pack a picnic and come enjoy a fun summer evening at Wilcox!”

Music and a Movie will be screened near the main parking area, and guests can arrive beginning at 5:00 p.m. to picnic and spend time at the park. RSVP for the evening is recommended, but not required. To RSVP your attendance email soneil@dutchessny.gov.

The music and movie evening is a carry-in, carry-out event, according to county officials. Picnics and coolers are allowed, but glass containers, smoking, and alcohol are prohibited on park property. Restrooms will be available.

In addition to the music and movie, all who attend will receive a weekend discounted air show coupon, compliments of Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. Residents are also invited to camp overnight at Wilcox’s Forest Acres Campground. Camping reservations can be made online by visiting DutchessNY.gov/Parks or by calling the park office 845-298-4000.

Parks Director Sandy Washburn said, “Summer is the perfect time to enjoy Wilcox Memorial Park. In addition to great music and an outdoor movie, we encourage all families to come early and enjoy our paddle and rowboat rentals and our new free game area.  There is nothing better than seeing residents enjoying time outside with family and friends and utilizing all of our great parks within Dutchess County.”

This event will be canceled if severe evening storms are forecast. Updates will be posted on the County’s website, dutchessny.gov, as well on the Dutchess County Parks and Dutchess County Government social media pages.
