ALBANY – Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul vowed to make changes when she becomes the first female NYS Governor in less than two weeks.  On Tuesday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he is resigning from office in two weeks.

Cuomo’s fall from grace is the result of sexual harassment complaints from 11 different women, many of whom worked in his office.  A report produced after an investigation by the New York State Attorney General’s office concluded that Cuomo violated state and federal laws in his treatment of the accusers.

Hochul, speaking on Wednesday said that any government employee named in the report will not be a part of her administration.  “No one will ever describe my administration as a toxic work environment,” said the future governor.

The Lieutenant Governor said that she is in the process of selecting cabinet members but did not agree with Cuomo’s two-week-long departure.  “It’s not what I asked for,” she said but will use the time to research her cabinet appointments.

Hochul has supported many Cuomo initiatives including minimum wage, clean energy, and affordable housing.  When asked about her policy initiatives,  Hochul said she plans to give an address to New Yorkers shortly after taking office, to put forth the foundation of her agenda as the 57th Governor of New York.
