ALBANY –State Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson (D, Newburgh) said in light of the attorney general’s report concerning allegations that Governor Andrew Cuomo engaged in a pattern of harassment and abuse of women, he believes “it is time to expedite the impeachment process” by the legislature, and “I will be voting ‘yes’ when it reaches the floor.”

The lawmaker also said in addition to the sexual harassment allegations, “the Assembly Judiciary Committee is also reviewing the reporting of COVID-19 nursing home deaths, the governor’s $5 million book deal, and the concerns surrounding the construction of the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge,” named after his late father, who also served as governor.

Back on March 7, Jacobson said the governor’s action “demonstrate an indefensible pattern of harassment and abuse. Together with the evidence of the nursing home cover-up, the time has come for him to face the consequences of his behavior and step down. He no longer has the credibility to lead or to govern effectively.”

Now that Attorney General Letitia James has released the findings of her office’s independent investigation, “I reiterate my call for the Governor to resign.”
