KINGSTON – A Kingston man was sentenced to one to three years in state prison following his guilty plea to vehicular assault and driving while ability impaired by the combined influence if drugs.

Jonathan Keefe, 28, was arrested on September 26, 2019, and charged with driving while ability impaired by the combined influence or drugs following a two-vehicle crash where he admitted to police he had previously consumed heroin before driving. His vehicle had crossed the double yellow line on Route 9W in Marlborough and hit the other driver head-on.

A blood draw that was done came back showing fentanyl in his system along with a metabolite of cocaine.

He was additionally charged with vehicular assault after an Ulster County grand jury determined the other driver sustained serious physical injury as a result of Keefe’s impaired driving by drugs.

He had a prior conviction for driving while ability impaired by drugs in 2015.
