Man assaulted in home taken to hospital in critical condition

TOWN OF WALLKILL – Town police are investigating a report of an assault that occurred at 64 Sandburg Court at 4:45 Monday, July 12.  The 24-year-old male waited until 9:51 p.m. Monday night to report the incident.

According to Police Lieutenant Robert McLymore, the officer taking the report was told that the victim had been sleeping in a downstairs bedroom when the assault occurred.  The officer was told that the victim was awakened by four unknown suspects who struck him on the head and body with a handgun.

The alleged assailants removed a gold chain with a cross pendant from the victim and fled the scene on foot.

The victim was transported to Garnet Medical Health Center by family members.  The victim is currently listed in critical condition.
