NEWBURGH – Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson has created two forums to help both tenants and landlords who are struggling as a result of the COVID pandemic.  The Democratic lawmaker is partnering with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley to provide information about the state’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).

The Poughkeepsie forum, open to everyone, is taking place on Wednesday, July 14, at the Family Partnership building at 29 N. Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie.  The forum starts promptly at 6:00 p.m. and will last for approximately one hour.

The second forum is co-hosted by NYS Senator James Skoufis and is being held at the Newburgh Activity Center on July 21.  The center is located at 401 Washington Street in the city.  The forum is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.

The ERAP is designed to cover 12 months of past-due rent that has accrued after March 13, 2020, three months of future rent, and covers expenses for necessities such as gas and electric bills for eligible applicants.

ERAP applications are available at: https://nysrenthelp.otda.ny.gov/en/.
