MIDDLETOWN – The use of fireworks in Middletown is illegal and over the five-day July 4th weekend, the city police received 121 complaint calls and made 32 arrests.

Mayor Joseph DeStefano said abusers may get the message when they go to court.

“People need to realize we don’t care about your fireworks. Do them somewhere they are, A, legal, and B, where they are not going to impact people on 50-foot lots or 75-foot lots in our neighborhoods. It is not something that should be done in a city,” he said.

Court fines in Middletown will range from $250 to $1,000.
