Caregiver arrested for stealing thousands from victim

AMENIA – A Dover woman has been arrested by State Police on 26 counts of possession of a forged instrument and one count of grand larceny, all felonies, for allegedly stealing over $3,000 from a victim for whom she was employed to provide care.

Shawna Lowe, 37, was charged with stealing money using forged checks belonging to the victim in an investigation that began in December 2020.

She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Amenia Court.

The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Dover Plains investigated the case in conjunction with the Special Investigation Unit Financial Crimes Unit.
