Alleged scrap metal bandits caught

MONTICELLO – Two scrap metal bandits who were observed on video, allegedly stealing metal at Skaters World in Ferndale on June 1, have been arrested.

The couple was spotted by Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday, June 6 at about 9:50 a.m. while traveling eastbound on Route 17 near exit 104.

They were towing a trailer filled with scrap metal.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Vernon Williams, Jr., 30, and Taina Valentine, 35, both of Glen Wild, and charged them with the misdemeanor of petit larceny.

They were released on appearance tickets pending a future court appearance.
