Communicated Content- Punters across New York State have been granted with plenty of news to be excited about over the past few months following a very turbulent year with the biggest being the announcement by Gov. Cuomo that budgeting had been confirmed to grow the online gambling and sports betting space in the state – the growth of many online sites like sportfogadas.net will be able to operate from 2022 with the changes to budgeting for this, and with the approach taken to avoid the issues many other states run into with rulings in favour of tribal casinos gaining the rights, it may allow many independent sites to grow in their space too. But the good news hasn’t only stopped for the online space, as punters may now be greeted with an offline option too.

Toward the end of May, the board of Newburgh unanimously approved the first electronic video gaming Casino in New York State – built in the 388,000-square-foot Newburgh Mall, it is expected that the casino will cover a 90,000-square-foot gaming destination whilst featuring 1,300 electronic slots as well as a signature lounge, Bar 360. Once the license is granted, it will relocate machines that had been previously used at the Monticello Raceway. With the gaming centre only taking up a small portion of the location, it has also been suggested that the 17 vacant storefronts will also offer incentives to bring in new tenants which could turn the mall into a pseudo-casino. Whilst no date has been proposed for when the possible opening could be given negotiations have been ongoing since 2018, but with approval being granted it is expected that things will get underway quite quickly.

The video gaming casino has also been suggested to have a number of other great selling points too – creating at least 200 construction jobs and a suggested additional 229 temporary jobs during the set-up period of the casino, whilst also creating 215 jobs only associated to the casino too – with the previous point about the additional storefronts that are to be filled, that could also lead to a huge number of employment opportunities as other businesses look to fill the space.

In what is seemingly amongst the first big changes to come to one state, it may be a catalyst to get not only online gambling but offline gambling more accessible across the U.S in general as mounting calls continue to build to allow for more freedom with online gambling as a whole, particularly around sports betting as a growing interest – with experts calling on casinos both online and offline as a great way to recover economically through this past year too, it’s a great time for states including New York to make this change.
