GOSHEN – Ever since local breweries and distilleries were legalized in New York State, dozens have cropped up in the Hudson Valley.

There is still much interest in the area and Orange County Economic Development Director Bill Fioravanti has been wooing them to set up shop in his county.

“What we are seeing now is not just new startup breweries, but we are seeing breweries, distilleries, even sake companies that are based in or around New York City wanting to have a Hudson Valley presence here. They want to come up and we have been courting a lot of them that are interested in being somewhere in the Mid-Hudson, and of course, we are trying to make sure they land right here in Orange County,” he said.

A sake brewery is currently under development in Hyde Park, working in connection with the Culinary Institute of America.
