CORTLANDT – An employee of Opengate has been charged with the felony of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person.

On the afternoon of May 8, State Police from the Cortlandt barracks were dispatched to the Cortlandt Town Center where callers were reporting a man striking a man with special needs inside a van.

Investigation, with the help of good Samaritans, found Jean Donatien, an employee of Opengate, a Westchester-based organization that supports persons with intellectual or development disabilities, slapping and knocking the victim’s head against the van window.

The victim was not injured.

Donatien was arraigned and released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
