PLEASANT VALLEY – An accident involving a car and motorcycle Thursday afternoon sent a 24-year-old motorcyclist to the hospital and closed Main Street (Route 44) in Pleasant Valley for nearly two hours.

The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. in the vicinity of the town hall.  A witness told Mid-Hudson News that a car started to go around the vehicle ahead of it, crossed into the opposing lane, and struck the motorcycle and operator, who was stopped at the time.

Route 44 was closed between West Road and Wilbur Road until 5:15 p.m. as first responders tended to the victim and members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit reconstructed the wreck.

The male operator of the motorcycle was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

No additional information has been released by the authorities.
