Man jumps to his death from Walkway

POUGHKEEPSIE – A man jumped off of the Walkway Over the Hudson early Saturday evening.
Poughkeepsie 911 received a report of a man who had jumped from the middle of the span, falling approximately 212 feet to his death in the Hudson River.
The Poughkeepsie Fire Department Marine Unit launched their boat and we’re guided to the lifeless body by first responders on the Walkway above.
At 6:22 p.m., the firefighters recovered the body and were transporting it to the east shore of the river.
Boats from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the Roosevelt Fire Department also assisted.  Mobile Life Support Services was standing by at Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie.
