Fatal crash on Thruway in Town of Newburgh

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A 64-year-old Albrightville, Pennsylvania man was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving on the Thruway in the Town of Newburgh struck the rear of another tractor-trailer Tuesday afternoon.

State Police said the driver of the first truck, Michael Guerra, was killed in the crash.

A third vehicle was involved in the accident when the tractor-trailer that was struck was pushed forward striking the rear of a 2018 Ford Explorer.

Neither the driver of the second truck, Adam Tommell, 37, of Voorheesville, or the Ford, Darrin Stark, 52, of Landing, New Jersey, were injured. Three passengers in the Ford also escaped injury.

Investigating the incident were State Police, Orange County Hazardous Materials Unit, Orange Lake, Winona Lake and West Point fire departments and Quality Towing.
