POUGHKEEPSIE – Poughkeepsie City School District buses were vandalized on at least two occasions over the weekend.  Damage includes broken windows, fire extinguishers removed from the vehicles, and additional damage.

A district employee alerted city police on Saturday morning to a vehicle that had been damaged sometime between Friday afternoon and 7:30 Saturday morning at 11 College Avenue, in the bus lot garage area.  At the time, it was the only vehicle that had sustained damage.

On Monday morning, March 29 at 6 a.m., employees noticed several more vehicles parked in the same area that had been damaged.  Police were once again summoned to the scene to investigate and take a report.  The facility does not have any security cameras on the property.

The more recent vandalism included first aid kits being opened and the supplies scattered in and around the vehicles.  Fire extinguishers had been removed from the vehicles and thrown on the property.  Side and rear windows were broken out of buses, and a courier vehicle was defaced with graffiti.

City of Poughkeepsie Police are asking for anyone with information to call the confidential TIPS Line at 845-451-7577.
