HUDSON – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a  Stockport woman for rape, child endangerment, and falsely reporting an incident, for a case that allegedly occurred in February.

Dawn Budelman, 59, called the sheriff’s office and reported that a man had entered her residence and forcibly raped her on February 28.  The Special Victims Unit of the sheriff’s office conducted an investigation, collected evidence, interviewed witnesses, and had Budelman evaluated at a local hospital.

As a result of the investigation, the agency determined that the crimes reported by Budelman did not occur.

Instead, Senior Investigator Mark Dunspaugh says that Budelman had sexual relations with a male victim under the age of 17, which is considered rape.  Budelman was arrested on March 25 and was released on her own recognizance after being arraigned.
