POUGHKEEPSIE – A 38-year-old Poughkeepsie resident with a previous conviction on a weapons charge has been arrested by City of Poughkeepsie Police on the felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon.  The arrest of Kevin Moore occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Main Street and Davies Place.

Police officials say that patrol officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle that had been observed making several traffic infractions.  During the investigation, officers removed Moore, the driver and only occupant of the car, and searched the vehicle.

An illegally possessed, loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol was recovered.

Moore was processed at police headquarters and held for arraignment.  Police said additional charges are pending.

In addition to his previous weapons conviction, Moore has a DWI conviction from an incident in Westchester County.
