Vehicles crushed in Saugerties

SAUGERTIES – Severe winds caused downed power lines and trees in the Saugerties area early Saturday.

Just before 1 a.m., police were summoned to the area of Hommelville Road for a report of wires down and trees across the roads in the West Saugerties area of the town.

Strong winds caused a large tree to come down, landing on two unoccupied vehicles, causing extensive damage to both.

Central Hudson crews and fire department personnel also responded to the several calls that trees and powerlines had been brought down.

There were no reports of injuries.
