SAUGERTIES – Police in Saugerties have arrested two local men in unrelated domestic disputes in Saugerties.

A 42-year-old Saugerties man has been charged with criminal obstruction of breathing following on December 19 incident at 36 Ulster Avenue in the village.

Martin Glien was arrested the following day on a charge of criminal obstruction of breathing. It is alleged that during a domestic dispute, Glien obstructed the breathing of the victim who was transported to Health Alliance Broadway campus in Kingston for observation.

Glien was arraigned and released on his own recognizance with an order of protection issued on behalf of the victim.

In an unrelated case, on December 25, at 164 Partition Street, police responded to a domestic dispute where they located 50-year-old Daniel McGovern.

As a result of previous domestic incidents involving McGovern, a court order of protection had been issued specifically instructing McGovern to stay away from the victim.

He was arrested on the new charge and released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
