State Forestry Grants awarded

ALBANY – The State Department of Environmental Conservation has awarded grants for urban forestry projects across the Hudson Valley.

The program is geared to increasing public awareness of the importance of trees and helps communities develop and implement comprehensive tree management plans to create healthy forests while enhancing quality of life for residents.

In Columbia County, the City of Hudson will receive $20,000 for tree inventory and management plan.

In Dutchess County. The City of Beacon will receive $35,996 for tree maintenance and the Town of Pawling will receive $25,000 for town and village tree inventory and management plan.

In Orange County, the City of Newburgh will receive $40,000 for tree maintenance and the City of Port Jervis will receive $35,000 for tree maintenance.

In Westchester County, the Village of Briarcliff Manor will receive $25,076 for tree inventory and management plan; the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson will receive $14,756 for tree inventory and management plan and $40,000 for tree maintenance; the Village of Irvington will receive $21,760 for tree inventory and management plan; the Town of Ossining will $33,750 for tree maintenance; and the Village of Ossining  will receive $38,000 for tree planting.
