COLCHESTER – A bridge along Route 30 in Downsville will now be known as Colchester Veterans Memorial Bridge.
A bill sponsored by Senator Jen Metzger (D, Rosendale) has been signed into law.
The Town of Colchester originally requested the designation.
“The newly dedicated bridge will serve as a permanent memorial to Delaware County’s veterans, and a lasting tribute to the service and sacrifice of these brave men and women.”
Town Supervisor Arthur Merrill said the American Legion approached the town last year seeking the designation, “which we gave unequivocally to recognize all our veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country and their community.”
