KINGSTON – The prices to rent or buy a home in the City of Kingston continue to rise as demand increases and Mayor Steven Noble told a virtual breakfast meeting of the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce on Thursday that the city is facing a housing crisis.

That is an issue the city hopes to tackle in the new year, said the mayor.

“There is more demand in Kingston for housing than there is supply and so we have to build more housing and you will that is a priority for 2021 and that is something we continue to work on,” he said.

The mayor pointed to the recently completed RUPCO Empire Square project and conversion of the former Alms House into over 60 units of affordable and senior housing.
