Man killed when car slams into garbage truck

AMENIA – A Brooklyn man was killed late Wednesday afternoon when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of County Route 83 approaching Route 44 in Amenia and struck a garbage truck.

State Police said the driver of the car, a 2003 Toyota Camry, Christian Brink, 37, of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at Sharon Hospital.

Police say Brink made a left turn to continue eastbound on Route 44 directly in the path of the westbound truck.

S passenger in his car is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
