KINGSTON – The Kingstonian project is expected to move another step closer to reality next Tuesday when the Ulster County Legislature votes on a new payment-in-lieu-of-taxes plan.

That proposal would double the public benefit and provide an additional feature, said legislature Chairman David Donaldson.

“It also has a caveat on there. What it will do is allow the county to collect, if in fact they go beyond what they are projecting, because some are saying they may be able to make more than what they are claiming they are going to make. Then there becomes an increase in the taxes on it,” he said.

Project developers must also get Kingston School Board approval on the PILOT agreement before work can begin.
